Wauseon is the county seat of Fulton County, a little over 400 square miles of mostly flat farmland in Ohio's northwest corner. The Tiffin River runs down the west side of the county toward the Maumee, and the Ohio Turnpike cuts straight across, which is why this county has both serious row crop farming and a steady stream of construction, logistics and commercial work along the interstate corridor.
This is Great Black Swamp country, and the farming here still depends on tile and open ditch drainage doing its job.
