Our Bluffton store is the John Deere dealership for Wells County and the Wabash River farm country south of Fort Wayne, working with grain farms, livestock operations and the large Swiss Amish farming community around Berne and Geneva.
TRULAND Equipment has a store in Bluffton serving Wells County. We handle John Deere sales, parts and service for tractors, combines, planters, sprayers, tillage, hay equipment, Gators and mowers, plus STIHL, Kuhn, Great Plains, Toro, SnowEx and Boss. Call 260-565-3659 for parts, to schedule service or to ask about inventory. We also work with farms around Ossian, Markle, Uniondale, Craigville, Berne and Decatur.
The Wabash River runs right through Bluffton, and the county's farm ground follows it. This is corn, soybean and wheat country with a heavy livestock presence, particularly hogs and poultry, and the barns tell you that as much as the fields do. Wells County ground is flat to gently rolling glacial till, well suited to row crops when the tile is right, and tile work is a constant conversation here the same as it is everywhere in the eastern Corn Belt.
Just south and east of us, Adams County holds the second largest Amish settlement in Indiana, centered on Berne, with roughly 11,000 adherents. It is a Swiss Amish community, and Bernese German is still spoken there. Those farms run differently than a 4,000 acre grain operation, and they are a meaningful part of the customer base for a store like ours. The equipment conversation with a Berne area dairy is not the same conversation as with a Markle grain farm, and it should not be.
John Deere is the primary line. From the Bluffton store we sell and support row crop and 4WD tractors, combines, corn heads and platforms, planters, drills, air seeders, sprayers, tillage tools, hay and forage equipment, Gators, and the full turf lineup including ZTrak and QuikTrak mowers. The 1023E, 1025R, 2025R and 3025E tractor and loader packages move well around Ossian, Zanesville and the acreages north toward Fort Wayne.
We also carry Kuhn and Great Plains, which matter for hay tools and tillage in a county with real forage acres, plus CAM Superline trailers, Toro, SnowEx and Boss plows. Our STIHL catalog is deep, running to well over a thousand product pages across saws, trimmers, blowers and battery equipment. PowerGard Protection Plans are available on new John Deere equipment. Call 260-565-3659 for what is on the ground.
Wells County plants and harvests on the same tight schedule as the rest of northeast Indiana, which means the cost of a breakdown is measured in days of weather, not in the repair invoice. Our Bluffton parts counter stocks parts for tractors, tillage tools, planters, air seeders, drills, sprayers, hay equipment, ag technology, skid steers, track loaders, mini excavators and wheel loaders. You can order through Shop.Deere.com, and we operate Parts Drop Locations so pickups are not always a trip into Bluffton.
Off-season inspections are where you actually save money. We run inspection programs for 4WD tractors, row crop tractors, combines, corn heads, platforms, planters up to 12 row and greater than 12 row, drill box air CCS, sprayers, balers, mower conditioners, tillage, self-propelled forage harvesters and their heads, skid steers, compact track loaders, compact wheel loaders and compact excavators. For farms that do their own wrenching, Service ADVISOR, operator manuals, Operations Center Pro Service, Expert Alerts, Equipment Mobile and the John Deere ExpertConnect app are all available.
Data only helps if it is clean and it is actually in the machine when you need it. Our Total Farm Support Plan is $1,500 for spring or fall, and it covers an Operations Center pre-season review and data clean-up, data transfer from Operations Center to your equipment, software updates for equipment compatibility, in-field technology startup and a full year of Call Center support. That last piece matters at 9pm during planting.
Agronomy service packages include Data Services at $1 per acre, where we build management zones or sample grids and upload them to Operations Center, then upload your soil test results and prescriptions. You pull the samples and pay the lab fees. In-season soil nitrogen testing runs $60 per sample, plant tissue testing $60 per sample and manure testing $90 per sample, which is worth knowing in a county with as much manure to place as Wells has. Boundary mapping is done with a TRULAND-supplied 835M Gator and precision ag equipment, and a Full-Service Boundary Program is available. Phone support is $299 per year through the Precision Ag Support Center at (260) 296-2391, and we publish a TRULAND RTK Network dealer map.
TRULAND has been in the grain storage and handling business for almost 60 years. In Wells County, on-farm storage and drying is what lets you take corn early instead of waiting on the elevator line, and it is what lets you market on your own schedule instead of the local basis in October.
We handle full design and site layout services, equipment selection, expert installation, routine and preventative maintenance, custom high quality millwright services and complete dryer service. Partner manufacturers include Brock on-farm grain storage systems, Meyer and Superb grain dryers, Brock pneumatic systems, Brock conditioning fans and heaters, Farm Fans dryers and parts, KLEENair systems, Grain Management Systems, and Honeyville bucket elevators, catwalks, conveyors, support structures and towers. We also stock a large inventory of Hutchinson and Westfield.
From Bluffton we work with farms across Wells County and into Adams, Huntington, Blackford and southern Allen counties, including Ossian, Markle, Poneto, Keystone, Craigville, Uniondale, Vera Cruz, Zanesville, Berne, Decatur and Montpelier. Our Huntington, Fort Wayne and Wabash stores are all within reach, which is the practical benefit of being part of an 18-store group across Indiana and Ohio.
It works out simply. Parts get transferred between stores instead of ordered and waited on. Used equipment can be moved so you can look at it here rather than driving three counties over. And the used inventory across the group is deep, covering tractors, harvesting equipment, tillage, planting and seeding, sprayers, grain handling, hay and forage, utility vehicles, compact construction, material handling and precision ag.
