Carroll County row crop country

Carroll County is close to the definition of Corn Belt farming. There are roughly 537 farms covering about 197,000 acres here, and nearly 91 percent of that is cropland, with something on the order of 87,000 acres of corn and 77,000 acres of soybeans in a typical year. Yields back that up. Carroll County soybeans have run in the mid-60 bushel range in recent seasons, right alongside Tippecanoe, Clinton and Tipton counties.

Livestock is a big piece of it too. Carroll County carries well over a quarter million head of hogs, which means manure logistics, feed handling and loader work are year-round jobs, not seasonal ones. We run inspection programs for 4WD tractors, row crop tractors, combines, corn heads, platforms, planters up to 12 row and greater than 12 row, drill box air CCS, sprayers, balers, mower conditioners, tillage, self-propelled forage harvesters and their heads, skid steers, compact track loaders, compact wheel loaders and compact excavators. Planter inspections in particular pay for themselves, since a meter or a row unit problem discovered in April is a yield problem you carry all season. Precision ag on high-yield ground

When your county averages what Carroll County averages, the easy yield is already captured. What is left is the variability inside the field, and that is precision ag work.
