Wabash County, Indiana

The short answer

TRULAND Equipment in Wabash is the John Deere dealership for Wabash County. We handle sales, parts and service for John Deere tractors, combines, planters, sprayers, hay and forage equipment, Gators and mowers, plus STIHL, Kuhn, Great Plains, Toro, SnowEx and Boss. Call 260-563-1149 to check parts, book service or ask about a machine. We also serve North Manchester, LaFontaine, Roann, Urbana, Lagro, Laketon and Somerset.

Grain and livestock in the upper Wabash valley

Wabash County is northeastern Indiana farm country with more relief than the flat ground to the west. The Wabash River runs across the county through Wabash and Lagro, the Eel River comes down past North Manchester and Roann, and the Salamonie and Mississinewa reservoirs sit on either side of the county line. Between them you get a mix of gently rolling cropland, wooded draws and river bottoms, so field shapes here are rarely as clean as they are out on the till plain.

Corn and soybeans dominate the cropland, together accounting for the large majority of harvested acres, with wheat and hay in the rotation. What makes Wabash County different from a lot of its neighbors is how much of the farm income comes from livestock rather than crops. Dairy, beef, hogs and poultry are a major share of the county's agricultural output, which means feed, forage, manure handling and daily chore equipment matter here as much as the planter does.

Equipment for a livestock and grain county

John Deere is the primary line. At Wabash that means row crop tractors, combines, corn heads and platforms, planters, drills, sprayers and tillage on the grain side, and a full hay and forage lineup on the livestock side. Balers, mower conditioners and forage equipment run hard here from late May through summer, and utility tractors with loaders work every single day on a livestock farm, not just during the season.

We also carry Kuhn and Great Plains, which cover a lot of the hay tool and tillage need in this county, plus CAM Superline trailers, Toro, SnowEx and Boss snow plows. Compact and sub-compact tractors move well around Wabash, North Manchester, Roann and the lake ground near Silver Lake and Laketon, and the 1023E, 1025R, 2025R and 3025E tractor and loader packages cover most of what an acreage owner needs. Our STIHL catalog runs deep on saws, trimmers and blowers, which stays busy in a county with this much timber along the rivers.

Parts and service when chores do not stop

On a livestock farm a breakdown is not a delay, it is a problem that has to be fixed today, because the cattle still eat on Sunday. On the grain side, northeastern Indiana hands out short planting windows and a fall that can turn quickly. Either way, in-season and in-chore turnaround is the job. Call 260-563-1149 and we will tell you what is on our shelf, what is at another TRULAND store and what has to be ordered.

We stock parts for tractors, tillage tools, planters, air seeders, drills, sprayers, hay equipment, ag technology, skid steers, track loaders, mini excavators and wheel loaders. Parts can be ordered through Shop.Deere.com and we operate Parts Drop Locations so you are not driving into town for every fitting. For self-repair we support Service ADVISOR, operator manuals, Operations Center Pro Service, Expert Alerts and Equipment Mobile, plus the John Deere ExpertConnect app. Off-season inspection programs cover 4WD and row crop tractors, combines, corn heads, platforms, planters, drills, sprayers, balers, mower conditioners, tillage, forage harvesters and the compact construction lineup.

Precision ag on irregular fields

Rolling ground with wooded draws, creek crossings and reservoir easement edges is where precision ag pays back fastest. When a field has six sides and a point, accurate boundaries and working section control stop the double-planted headlands and overlapped spray passes that quietly cost real money every year.

We drive and upload field boundaries into John Deere Operations Center using a TRULAND-supplied 835M Gator and precision ag equipment, and a Full-Service Boundary Program is available. Our Total Farm Support Plan is $1,500 for spring or fall, covering an Operations Center pre-season review and data clean-up, data transfer from Operations Center to your equipment, software updates for equipment compatibility, in-field technology startup and a full year of Call Center support. Agronomy service packages include Data Services at $1 per acre, in-season soil nitrogen testing at $60 per sample, plant tissue testing at $60 per sample and manure testing at $90 per sample, which is worth knowing in a county with this much livestock manure going back on fields. Phone support is $299 per year at (260) 296-2391.

Grain storage and handling

Our grain division has been in the grain storage and handling industry for almost 60 years. We handle full design and site layout, equipment selection, expert installation, routine and preventative maintenance, custom high-quality millwright services and complete dryer service.

Partner manufacturers include Brock on-farm grain storage systems, Brock pneumatic systems, Brock conditioning fans and heaters, Meyer and Superb grain dryers, Farm Fans dryers and parts, KLEENair systems, Grain Management Systems and Honeyville bucket elevators, catwalks, conveyors, support structures and towers. We also stock a large inventory of Hutchinson and Westfield. On a farm that both stores grain and feeds it, the handling layout matters as much as the bin does, so start the conversation early. Call 260-563-1149.

What the 18-store group means here

TRULAND runs 18 stores across Indiana and Ohio. For a Wabash County customer, the first benefit is parts. If what you need is sitting in Huntington, Swayzee, Fort Wayne or Bluffton instead of on our shelf, we move it rather than putting you on a backorder in the middle of hay season.

The second is machines. Across the group we list hundreds of used units at a time, including tractors, harvesting equipment, tillage, planting and seeding, sprayers, grain handling, hay and forage, utility vehicles and compact construction. If the tractor or baler you want is at another store, we can look at bringing it here. Technician specialties, grain systems crews and precision ag support are shared too, so the bench behind this store is bigger than the building.

Rentals

Wabash is not a rental store. TRULAND rentals are at Angola, Indiana at 260-665-5820 and Wauseon, Ohio at 419-335-7368. Angola is the closer of the two for most Wabash County customers. Between them the fleet covers 18 categories including skid steers and attachments, mini excavators, compact construction equipment, trailers, generators, air compressors, pumps, pressure washers, saws, lifts, concrete and masonry equipment, surface prep and floor care, heating and cooling, Gators, landscaping and lawn care and tree care equipment. Call either store directly for availability and rates.
